            I am writing in support of the NYS light pollution bill, A6950/S3003. I would like to thank you for your sponsorship of this bill and for your support for environmental initiatives in general.

        I am the Nature Director of the Northwest Alliance, a group of over 250 residents in the Northwest Woods area of East Hampton, Long Island. This is a relatively rural area where people enjoy and respect the natural night-time environment. The concern with regard to light pollution is threefold, disruption of the nocturnal animal habitat, disruption of visibility across property borders, on road and walkways, and in the night sky, and the unnecessary energy costs incurred in overlighting. Your sponsorship and support for this bill, particularly as it comes before the EnCon Committee, is very greatly appreciated.
